Boyfriend Denies Charges Of Abusing Girlfriend Who Spent Months In Bathroom

A Kansas man charged with a crime after his girlfriend spent upwards of two years in the bathroom pleaded  not guilty Wednesday.  The story of 35-year-old Pam Babcock of Ness City, Kansas, made worldwide headlines after it was discovered she was stuck to the toilet seat.  Emergency crews had to pry off the seat, which had to be removed at a Wichita hospital.

Babcock's boyfriend, 36-year-old Kory McFarren, was charged with mistreatment of a dependant adult, a misdemeanor.  Through his attorney, McFarren pleaded not guilty Wednesday in a Ness County courtroom.  McFarren told authorities Babcock had a phobia against leaving the bathroom, and may not have left the room for two years or more.  She had apparently been sitting on the toilet seat for more than two months.  McFarren says he brought food and drink to her in the bathroom, one of two in his home.

McFarren called police in February when he became worried about her condition.  He told the Associated Press at the time that the only thing he was guilty of was not calling officials sooner.
