E-Mail Flap Goes To Court

Investigators appointed by Attorney General Jay Nixon have filed a lawsuit against the governor's office in the two adversaries' ongoing e-mail flap.

According to the lawsuit, Governor Matt Blunt, or his top deputies, ordered e-mail backup tapes deleted, to avoid giving them to the Associated Press.  The litigation is aimed at determining whether the governor's office violated the state's open-records law.

According to court records, tech workers in the governor's office refused to destroy the backup tapes.

Blunt;s office says the lawsuit is politically motivated, pointing out that a newspaper reported details of the suit before the govenor or his lawyer received a copy of it.
